It’s time to unveil my December 2020 Paper Pumpkin Alternatives. This month’s kit features adorable critters and cheerful elements to help you send some happiness to family members and friends. Of course, you don’t have to make your cards they way Stampin’ Up! suggests. In fact, you don’t have to make cards at all, if you don’t want to. When I saw that sweet bear, my first thought was a gift tag for my sister who loves bears.

First, let’s take a look at how the kit contents are intended to be assembled.
These cards are adorable, and there’s nothing wrong with using the kit as it’s intended. How adorable are these little critters? They make me smile every time I see them.
Notice how the critters either have an arm that can be opened (bear and koalas) or their arm is out (red panda). This is so you can tuck one of the die cut pieces, like a heart, a cupcake, a present, or flowers under their hand. Or glue one onto their hand, in the case of the red panda. This way, they look like they are holding it. I love that little touch.
I really love that the bear is also a stamp. He’s a large image. So, if you love to color-and I do-you’ll love this stamp.

Second, let’s take a look at what else you can do with the kit. As usual, there are extra die cut pieces. Stampin’ Up! always makes sure you have more pieces than you need. They know how we love to come up with our own card designs.
For my first card, I used the bear stamp and colored him with my blends (Cinnamon Cider combo, Petal Pink combo, and Smoky Slate light). Next, I die cut him using one of the Stitched Nested Label dies. Because I love that the die cut critters can hold some of the die cut pieces from the kit, I used a craft knife and cut my bear’s arm. That way, he can hold the heart.
The inside of this card inspired my next alternative.
I stamped the leaves from the stamp set, using Calypso Coral ink and a Cinnamon Cider Stampin’ Write marker. Then I fussy cut three of them.
For my second card, I used the die cut red panda and present from the December 2020 Paper Pumpkin kit. I simply added a piece of DSP (patterned paper) from the Playing with Patterns 6 x 6 paper. I also used a die from the Stitched Nested Label dies to add some texture to my Gold Foil Sheets.
Here’s the inside of this card.
I hope you like my December 2020 Paper Pumpkin Alternatives. In the comments below, let me know which one is your favorite.

They are so adorable. I didn’t order the add ons for December. After seeing your blog, I wished I had. Can I make a standing order like with the Paper Pumpkins? That way I can get both the Paper Pumpkins and the add ons.
Gwen
Hi, Gwen. Thank you for your question. There were no add-ons for this month’s kit. I just used the Paper Pumpkin components and cardstock from my stash. Stampin’ Up! does not offer add-ons every month. When they do offer them, you will see a flyer in your Paper Pumpkin box announcing it and letting you know when it’s available. To receive the add-ons, you must be a Paper Pumpkin subscriber, which you are, and you must order them through the online store. So you put add them to your order just like any other product that you’re purchasing. Stampin’ Up! has announced an add-on for January’s kit. That add-on will be available on January 5 (item #156842). This January add-on will make 20 boxes.
